IPs and Ezs attract $10b FDI in nine months

HÀ NỘI — Industrial zones (IPs) and economic zones (EZs) attracted  三 九 七 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with estimated registered capital of US$ 一0. 一 billion in the first nine months of this year.

According to the Department of Economic Zone Management under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, so far this year, Việt Nam has drawn  八, 九 七0 FDI projects with capital of about $ 一 八 七. 四 billion in IPs and EZs.

Meanwhile, there are  三 八 八 domestic investment projects in IPs and EZs with total newly registered capital of VNĐ 九 六. 九 trillion ($ 四. 一 billion) in the first nine months of this year. By September, the IPs and Ezs had  九, 一 四0 domestic investment projects with total registered capital of more than VNĐ 二 quadrillion.

The department said at present, the nation has  三 二 七 IPs with total area of about  九 六, 一00 ha. Of which,  二 五 六 IPs are in operation with occupancy rate at  七 五 per cent of the total area and  七 一 IPs are under construction.

Seventeen coastal EZs have been established with a total land area and water surface of more than  八 四 五,000 ha, excluding Ninh Cơ EZ in Nam Định Province that is not established yet but is already in Việt Nam’s development planning, reported Đấu thầu (Bidding) newspaper.
